Catherine was born prematurely in 1956. Due to complications with her birth, she was born with severe hearing loss, cerebral palsy and dysarthria.
Catherine currently lives south of Adelaide with her husband, Barry, and cat, Cheeky Kitty. She is enjoying working on her memoirs and getting to spend time with her family, especially the two young grandsons.
It would be no surprise that writing is one of her favourite hobbies! She loves to keep her brain busy, active and healthy. She also keeps her body fit with aqua aerobics and lots of walking. When she’s not busy studying, writing, walking, or holidaying with the family, Catherine can be found in the garden.
The series Born Deaf: Now Bionic chronicles her journey through disability, childhood, motherhood, education and work. The first title in the series, I Can’t Hear You, I’m Graduating: A View From Up The Hill, documents the joy of navigating university life. Read about the dramas, obstacles, and triumphs Catherine faced to be able to graduate.
